MY WIFE'S ACCIDENT

Join me to thank Allah for saving my wife from what would have been a ghastly accident today.

She was hit by another lady while she was negotiating a u-turn at Karkanda Stadium, along Mani Road, Katsina. And she passed out instantly.

I heard a frantic phone call from my wife's phone, but it wasn't my wife. It was another occupant of the other car that hit my wife's car.  She was talking incoherently but I surmised that my wife had an accident. She managed to tell me the scene of the accident before the line went dead...

I drove mechanically, fast, without taking risks, towards the scene.

I found my wife unconscious in the other car that hit her. They put her there intending to take her to the hospital. I quickly transferred her into my car and drove fast to Federal Medical Center, Katsina. Along the way, I was driving and making phone calls. I called my daughter and told her to find my wife's hospital card and send the number to me. I turned around and looked at her to see whether she had regained consciousness. She coughed, opened her eyes wide and looked at me dazedly, then slumped back into unconsciousness.

I drove straight into the accident and emergency ward of the hospital. I went in and called the hospital staff who came out to take her in. To my greatest surprise, when we came back she had come out of the car and was being assisted by the woman who hit her car.

They took her in, examined her and certified that she was alright, then discharged her. We went home with the few drugs that were prescribed for her.

What really impressed me about the woman that hit her car was that she never lost her head. Before I reached the scene, she had gathered my wife's belongings, including her phones into her handbag, locked the damaged car, took my wife into her car and was about to take her to the hospital when I arrived. And she could have ran away after I had transferred my wife into my car and was cruising to the hospital. Instead, she drove dutifully after me, up to the hospital. And she called her husband.

What I used to consider my wife's naughtiness turned out to be what saved time when they tried to find out who to call when the accident occurred. My wife saved my number under the name, "Mijina", meaning my husband in Hausa.  And I was the last person she called before the accident. That was how they called me first.
