FACE TO FACE WITH A JINN

Although the existence of Jinns is confirmed by the Holy Qur'an and even science, I have always found it hard to believe that they, indeed, enter into human beings and control their organs until I saw it in reality.

As kids, we've often been told, either in folklores or mythical stories how these creatures do unbelievable things or how they appear to human beings. Although the human eye cannot view them in their natural form, they often appear in the form of any creature the human eye can see. We've heard stories - true or false - how they appear like beautiful women but with hooves. I've always doubted such stories because they all turn out to be hearsays. I've never seen someone who's actually seen Jinns in whatever form. The stories almost always turn out to be made up or are heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone else...

But the other day, I saw a kid whose body was taken possession of by what is most likely a Jinn. As Muslims, we know that there are certain verses of the Holy Qur'an which, if recited, send the Jinns away. One of such verses is the verse of The Throne (or Ayatul Qursiyyu). This was not only confirmed by the Holy Qur'an but by some of the Jinns who spoke to some people using other people's organs of speech. I've heard a Jinn who was interviewed in the VOA confirm that.

So when the kid fell down in my presence and started convulsing, I immediately began to recite the verse together with some other people around. And true enough, after a while, the Jinn began to talk, using the little boy's mouth. His whole countenance changed, his eyes turning up, showing more of the whites and squinting at people, generally looking unnatural. It was an eerie feeling for me. The hairs on the nape of my neck stood on ends and something that felt like a Siberian wind began to blow over me. The boy,
or, rather, the Jinn addressed me in a bloodcurdling, maniacal voice. He told me to stop reciting the verse if I wanted him to get out of the boy's body. I ignored him and continued reciting. He shouted, growled, cried and sometimes gave off that metallic, maniacal laugh you only hear in horror movies. He twisted and turned, kicked and punched us. He bit himself and tried to bite some of us. It was a hell of a job holding him down. We continued to recite. He called some of the people by their names, but I don't know why he never called my name. We kept at it and even brought a phone and played some of the recorded verses against his ears. With unbelievable strength, he tried to snatch the phone. It was all we could do to subdue him. We kept at it and after about an hour, the boy yawned, seemed to wake up from sleep and asked us, in his normal voice, what happened. That was how we came to know that the Jinn had gone out. Phew! I was really shaken.

This issue of Jinns raises more questions than answers in my mind. You get to hear some of these Malams saying that the Jinns enter peoples' body through hair pores or other entry points. But scientifically, I've heard that Jinns are made of Hydrogen. And that's why they can pierce walls and even iron doors and get into a building or human body.

I'm more confused and such things are inexplicable to me. It's beyond my comprehension.

What do you make of that?
