RESISTANCE TO CHANGE?

In an apparent show of resistance to change, we woke up today to find that someone has changed the name of our street to its old name. The sign was neatly repainted with its old name.

Recently, the Katsina Urban and Regional Planning Board, URPB, had changed street names in some estates within Katsina metropolis. But two estates were reported to have protested the change. In one of the estates, most of the street signs bearing the new names were destroyed. And in another estate, the old names were repainted back.

In our estate, quite a few streets seem to have been repainted with the old name. Ours used to be "Road P", which URPB changed to "Labo Legas Road". But someone repainted it back to Road P last night.

The question is why? Why are people resisting this change of street names?
