STREET NAME

My boulevard in Katsina has been renamed. The roads in the estate used to be named Road A, B, C, etc. They are now named after prominent Katsina indigenes.

But what strikes me as funny is the way they spelt Lagos in Hausa - Legas...😃😃😃...

The trouble with these kinds of developmental efforts is that they are, invariably, never maintained nor sustained. I bet in a few months from now you'll hardly find any of these signs standing. People will vandalise them and the authorities may never replace them. It's as if we're averse to development.

Already, I hear that in another estate, they destroyed the signs a few days after they had been put up in protest of the change of names.

Is that the way to develop?
