Today, I came across an honest, not so "lazy youth" at a car wash.
After washing my car, he handed over to me some money he found under the seat.
I knew exactly when the money fell a few days ago but as I was driving, I resolved to retrieve it after I had reached my destination but I forgot all about it till the time I gave the car to him to wash. When it flashed through my mind that I should bend down and take out the money, I decided to leave it. If he found it, that was his luck and I'd forgive him. If he returned the money, he'd have passed the integrity test I set for him without his knowledge, I reasoned. I'd then reward him and always give him my car to wash. I guessed the money couldn't have been much, otherwise I'd have missed it.
When he gave me the money, I was surprised to find that it was much more than I thought. It was way higher than what he'd be paid for washing several cars.
So, like Kemi, the ex-Finance Minister, 😀, I thanked him "profusely", for his honesty and rewarded him handsomely.
