THE DG THAT EMPLOYED ME AT NBC

Mallam Nasir Danladi Bako, Kogunan Sokoto, was my first Director General at the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC. In fact, he employed me there.

What's interesting is the fact that he employed me without knowing me, without a letter of introduction from any "big man"!

He took one look at my application and my credentials and minuted, "Please shortlist". I was invited for interview and was successful.

The interview commenced at 9:00 am, but I was not called into the room until at 1:00am the following morning. Three of us vying for the same position were interviewed: one was a Mass Communication lecturer, one an FRCN staff. Fortunately, I was selected.

Over 7,000 applications were received after an advertisement for various positions at the time,  150 of us were shortlisted and only a little more than 40 were employed! That's what he told us while addressing those that were successful after documentation.
