As I plundered through the streets in my neighborhood for my routine morning walks today (I no longer go to the outskirts for security reasons), I was pondering over a story about taking additional wife by someone who can ill afford to do that.
But, first, let me bore you a little with how I track my morning exercises. Today, I walked 4.21 kilometers in 46.31 minutes at an average pace of 11 minutes, 3 seconds, burning 228 calories. I use a simple application which I downloaded on my phone from Google Store to track the exercise as you can see from the pictures below.
Well, the story I'm about to tell you, which I personally witnessed, is a typical example of some people's mindset. You see, my neighbor and I engaged the services of a Keke NAPEP rider who conveyed our children to and from school. When the term commenced a few days ago, the rider told us to find another one as his boss had seized the tricycle. My neighbor, who knew the owner of the tricycle, went to find out why he had taken back his tricycle. The man told him that the tricycle operator was, actually, his son-in-law. That when he discovered that the boy had no means of livelihood, he purchased the tricycle for him to operate so that he could, at least, put food on the table for his family.
It went well for a while with each of them getting a little something out of the endeavor. But after some time, do you know what the son-in-law did? Hmmm... He went and took additional wife...yes, you heard correctly! Additional wife! And, of course, the owner promptly took back his tricycle. My neighbor listened to him sympathetically, but pleaded with him again to give the boy a second chance, which he did.
Therein lies the problem of some of our youths who don't pity themselves...
