It's not usual for Nigerian Muslims, especially the youths, to write a will, even though the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), has directed that a Muslim must write his will, in one of his authentic traditions (Hadiths).
So, what could have driven a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Member, a young girl for that matter, to write a will on the day she died? Could it be a premonition, an instinct, perhaps, or was it one of those jokes she tried to crack that turned out to be one of the greatest coincidences of the century?
Only Allah, the almighty, the all knowing and, perhaps, young Sakeena Muhammad Dalhat, could have answered those questions were she alive today.
Unfortunately, Sakeena and four others lost their lives in a fatal accident at Ƴar-Kadir village, along Katsina-Kano road in Rimi Local Government, Katsina State. She was on her way to Katsina from Kaduna, where she was a serving corps member last Tuesday, just a day after Id il Fitr, to get her "NYSC clearance".
According to her relative, Malam Musa Rabo Ɗan-Hasan, who happens to be a friend, she was taken to the Kawo Motor Garage in Kaduna by her father, where she boarded the ill-fated bus, a Sharon and she bade her dad goodbye, not realizing that it was the last time either of them would see one another.
All the front and rear tires of the bus were said to have instantly burst when they fell in some potholes along the road. Sakeena and two others were said to have lost their lives on the spot, while three others died later.
This, more than anything else, brings to the fore the need to speed up the construction of the Kano-Katsina dual carriageway which has been ongoing for several years now.
And now Katsinawa are asking, why...? Why have the contractors suddenly abandoned the construction site which is now claiming lives of innocent citizens?
