The Katsina State Government Committee for the Disbursement of relief assistance to the victims of bandits attack has visited Bakori local government area of the state. The committee, headed by the Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Shu'aibu Charanci, said the assistance was in form of cash and food items.
According to him, seventy-two people were estimated to have lost their lives during the bloody encounter with the bandits in four wards of the Bakori local government area. He
said twelve people were critically wounded while sixteen others sustained various degrees of injuries.
A total of one hundred people were listed as victims of the bandits' attack from four wards of the local government area. The wards are Guga, Kandarawa, Jargaba and Kakumi.
Each of the families of the seventy-two people killed was given two hundred thousand naira, while those who sustained injuries were given one hundred thousand naira each. In addition to the cash the state government has purchased bags of maize, guinea-corn, millet and rice for distribution to the families of the slain people.
Each family will be given three bags of the grains. But because of the cashless policy the families will recieve their money through bank transfers. He asked the beneficiaries to summit their bank accounts to the committee.
The chairman of the committee extended Governor Aminu Masari's condolences to the families of the deceased for the second time and prayed Allah for the speedy recovery of the injured. The assistance given to the families included the financial assistance given by the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu to the victims. Additional amount of money and food items were also provided by the state government.
He called on the families of the deceased to continue praying and seek for Allah's protection from all evil. He led a special prayer for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
The Bakori Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Ali Maicitta, thanked the state Governor for the timely assistance and expressed hope that more assiatance will come from the federal government.
