Ahead of tomorrow's Inauguration of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has met with members-elect.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, at the meeting, agreed to adopt Hon. Nasir Yahya Daura, a member representing Daura Constituency, Katsina State, as a consensus candidate by the 34 Local Government members-elect for the position of Speaker in the next Assembly. In the same vein, Hon. Abduljalal Haruna Runka, a member representing Safana Constituency, was adopted as Deputy Speaker scheduled to be inaugurated tomorrow.
The decision was announced moments ago by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy Chairman, Katsina State, Alhaji Bala Abu Musawa. This decision was reached after a two-and-a-half-hour meeting of the State Working Committee, comprising the Executive Governor of Katsina State and the 34 Local Government Members-elect of Katsina State House of Assembly.
The Governor, during the meeting, explained that the decision was aimed at strengthening unity and inclusiveness in the legislative duties and delivering a people-parliament that Katsina would be proud of.
Furthermore, the Governor urged aggrieved aspirants to close ranks with the concensus candidates and work together to achieve a purposeful legislature that will champion the interest of Katsina State.
The concensus candidate for the position of Speakership, Hon. Nasir Yahya Daura, in his remarks, reiterated his readiness to ensure a united Assembly that would work towards actualizing the programmes and policies of the government.
Similarly, Hon. Shamsuddeen Dabai was a concensus candidate for the position of House Leader; Hon. Ibrahim Umar Dikko, Chief Whip; Hon. Mustapha Yusuf Jibia, Deputy House Leader; and Hon. Salisu Rimaye as Deputy Whip.
