Auwalu has consistently displayed exceptional abilities in everything he pursues. I can personally vouch for this, as I had the privilege of being one of his examiners/interviewers during his recruitment process at the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). His remarkable performance in the employment competency assessment examination and interview was instrumental in securing his position at the NBC.
A few years later, he worked under my supervision during my tenure as the Zonal Director at the NBC Maiduguri Zonal Office. Throughout our collaboration, I had no alternative but to recommend him for commendation for his independent design of a new format for auditing programs in broadcast stations. Additionally, he took the initiative to teach other staff members how to utilize this format, which, to my knowledge, is still in use at the NBC.
I am also aware of his significant contributions to the establishment of the Nigeria Broadcast Institute (NBI) under the NBC. Once operational, the Institute will provide training for broadcasters and issue professional certificates focusing on various aspects of broadcast regulations. Furthermore, he played a crucial role in revitalizing the Africa Broadcast Journal (ABJ), which had been on hold for almost twenty years. The journal, now accessible both online and in print, serves as a research-based and peer-reviewed publication of the National Broadcasting Commission.
In a personal capacity, Auwalu Rabilu provided guidance to my daughter, Mubinatu Ahmad, as she prepared to present her thesis on M.Sc. Public Health, which she successfully defended.
I could continue listing the achievements of Dr. Auwalu Rabilu, who I consider as one of my protégés at NBC, but I believe these examples suffice for now.
